Milk slot machine

Since a milk dispenser has been installed in the area, I have finally been able to give up the terrible plastic bottles I used to accumulate just by buying a bottle of milk every second day. On top of not producing anymore waste, I use the same glass bottle each time, the milk I buy from the automatic dispenser is produced in the area by a local farmer so it doesn't travel very far before reaching my cup of caffè-latte!

Train Vs car

I have made my choice. I now do most of my travelling by train. And the more I travel by train the more I am reluctant to use the car! Of course trains can be delayed, trains can be far from clean, trains can be busy and noisy...but still, travelling by train provides this satisfaction of travelling with next to zero impact on the environment so train Vs car, there is no competition!

life less plastic

While I am trying to reduce the amount of plastic involved in my everyday life I have just come accross an interesting experience Chris Jeavans is running in the UK during this month of August. Have a look at her blog.

green transportation

When it comes to green transportation, bikes are tough to beat. They’re cheap, quick in traffic, and pollution free. But it’s tough to carry anything unless you’re properly equipped. That’s where this serious trailer comes in. It is the Yak model from
Bob trailers.
I use it for most of my the time I commute within 15 km from home.

test your skills at garbage management

clic here to test your skills at garbage management.

It's a game, and I must say it's good fun. But it is also tremendously scary because it gives you an idea of the quantity of waste we produce every single day!

the only paint I use

Standard paints, even when water-based, are normally produced using solvents and complex chemical compounds extracted from petroleum which are not therefore biocompatible. This makes them totally extraneous to the vital processes of all living creatures and to the environment and not transformable into useful substances for life in the physical world. Made with vegetable and mineral raw materials, Solas products contain absolutely no petrochemical solvents or acrylic, vinyl, alkyd or biodical resins. The vegetable or mineral substances in natural Solas coatings are biodegradable and biocompatible, decomposing naturally and returning to a state of "humus vitale".
